The Mission

Advocating for a Neuro-Affirming World

We believe that true empowerment requires a society that understands and embraces neurodiversity. Our talks, workshops and school outreach bring these conversations into the community. We are also planning podcasts and lived-experience storytelling to help more people understand girls’ needs and strengths.

Seeing Her Strengths

Let girls’ experiences shape our understanding

Petal’s advocacy priorities centre on strengths-based, gender-responsive public education. We value neurodivergent girls’ lived experience and encourage conversations about how people and environments can understand and support them.

Recognise overlooked needs

Being quiet, cooperative or academically capable cannot tell us everything about how someone feels. We want the public to pay closer attention to school, friendship and growing-up experiences of girls with ADHD, autism (ASD) and other learning or developmental differences.

See strengths alongside support needs

A strengths-based approach does not minimise difficulty. Creativity, interests, abilities and aspirations deserve attention alongside the support a girl needs to build identity, participate in community life and explore her future.

Turn understanding into inclusion

Respectful language, clear communication and flexible ways to participate can all make a difference. Parents, educators, youth workers, peers and employers each have a part to play. Cross-sector dialogue can connect support across home, school and community.

Education is the most powerful tool for dismantling stereotypes. We bring our message directly to schools, colleges, and corporate partners to foster inclusive environments. Our expert-led talks and interactive workshops educate students, parents, teachers, and the broader public on masking, overlooked support needs, and how to build supportive communities.

School & College Outreach: Empowering students, parents, and teachers to build mutual understanding, establish peer support, and foster neuro-affirming educational environments.
Community Talks & Workshops: Interactive sessions for the general public that raise societal awareness and teach practical, everyday inclusion strategies.
